“Well done and thank you to the entire Cavendish team for their outstanding work on this transaction. From the outset, you presented a strong international team with the sector and functional expertise required to deliver. Cavendish skilfully managed both the negotiations and the process, and were alongside us every step of the way. I personally felt very well advised throughout, Jonathan, you did not rush any decision, but nor did we lose time. We are delighted with the successful sale to Pelsis and would highly recommend Cavendish.”

Ben Shapiro Shareholder & CEO Doff Portland

Cavendish advises on the sale of Doff Portland to Pelsis Group.

Cavendish has advised on the sale of leading garden-care FMCG brand owner, Doff Portland, to global pest control group Pelsis.

This successful transaction adds to the extensive roster of deals that the Cavendish team has completed in the horticultural and wider branded FMCG sectors.

Established in 1946, Nottingham based Doff offers a collection of gardening products, built around a core range certified for organic growing and sold in major retailers in the UK and EU. In May 2024, Doff was awarded the prestigious King’s Award for International trade, recognising its outstanding growth in overseas sales.

The acquisition provides an important balance to Pelsis’ portfolio, through Doff’s well-known consumer brands and commitment to environmentally responsible products, ahead of increasingly stringent global regulatory requirements.

Jonathan Buxton, Partner at Cavendish said:

“Doff is a near-perfect fit with Pelsis, giving it both a major consumer brand and a leading position in the organic gardening category. The deal is another fantastic showcase for Cavendish’s deep expertise in FMCG and horticultural transactions. Many congratulations to the Doff shareholders and management team on this landmark transaction!”

Stephen Nemeth, Director at Cavendish said:

“It was a great pleasure to work with the Doff shareholders and team. The long lead-up ahead of the competitive sale process meant that we knew the business, and each other, incredibly well, which provided a significant advantage for the transaction. It will be exciting to see what Doff does next in its new home.”
